1) Varkala
Varkala is a sea side beach resort and spa.It is also
an important Hindu centre of pilgrimage. |

Ponmudi
Ponmudi is on the fringes of the Western Ghats near
Agasthyakoodam,the second highest peak in Kerala at
6,201 ft.This is a very small hill station and the expected
thing to do is to walk around. |

Thiruvanathapuram ( Trivandrum)
Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of Kerala.The wooded
highlands on the Western Ghats in the eastern and northern
borders gives Thiruvananthapuram some very enchanting

mist-wrapped undulating hills of Wayanad have coffee,pepper,cinnamon
and and cardamom growing on them,all of it hedged by
lush rainforests that stuns the eye with its varied
shade of green.Wildlife truly roams free in Wayanad's
sanctuaries of Muthanga,Begur and Tholpetty. |

Bekal Fort
This is the place where those oft-repeated clichés
about God's Own Country come true.To one side of the
imposing fort lies the shallow beach,quite the lotus-eater's
delight,over-run as it is with shells of all sizes and
colours,vast colonies of bashful crabs and little else.

Kappil Beach
A mere 10-minute drive from the fort,and another beachcombing
discovery,Kappil is a secluded beach,partially over-run
with a thick green creepers that throws up mauve flowers.

Kozhikode
This legendary port is on the Malabar coast,near the
backwaters of the Kallai River,57 km down the Wayanad
Hills from Lakkidi.The great traveller Ibn Battuta,often
referred to as the Arab Marco Polo,visited Kozhikode(then
Calicut) at least six times between 1342 and 1347.Kozhikode
(Calicut)is still the most important city in northern
Malabar. |
